Fire Risk Assessments
The Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations, as amended by The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, require that all employers must conduct a fire risk assessment and appoint a responsible person by 1st October 2006. This applies whether or not a fire certificate is required or in force and is a legal requirement with penalties (which may be severe). This requirement is regardless of how many people are employed. Find out more on our Fire Prevention pages. Fire Safety TrainingDavenheath-OTS offers a number of training courses designed to meet the requirements placed upon all occupants of premises by legislation and specific instructions by LFEPA. Penalties for non compliance of regulations can be severe. Find out more on our Fire Safety Training page. Fire Safety SignageDavenheath-OTS are happy to survey your premises and advise on signage you may be required to have under the Fire Regulations Act. We can provide a quotation for any signage together with an installation cost within a quick response timeframe. Fire signage is integral to fire risk assessments and it is essential that the signs are installed in accordance with British Standards. Find out more on our Fire Safety Signage page. Supervised Evacuation DrillsUnder current fire safety legislation premises are required to carry out evacuation drills (usually twice a year). Obviously many landlords/firms undertake these themselves, set the alarm - count everybody out and back in again and the job is done until next time; but is that enough? Davenheath-OTS has years of experience in supervising evacuation drills, working with landlords and tenants to ensure an increasing level of confidence in both the systems and processes designed to protect life. Each Davenheath-OTS evacuation drill will be carefully planned in advance, the drill itself will be actively monitored, timed and the overall effectiveness of the evacuation assessed. On completion of the drill, the assessor will report in writing to the landlords and/or tenants on its effectiveness, and include observations on any issues arising. The aim will be to achieve a co-ordinated procedure that is specific to each individual premise and that has the confidence of the building's occupants. Find out more on our Supervised Evacuations page. Legal body membership (NSI, ECA)Davenheath-OTS are proud to be recognized by both ECA and NSI (NACOSS Gold Scheme) since it demonstrates to our customers that we have been subjected to stringent, third party checks, designed to ensure that the services we offer are of assured high quality. Why does NACOSS Gold Matter? The NACOSS Gold Scheme is accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), the only body recognized by the UK government to accredit such schemes, and administered by the National Security Inspectorate (NSI) which is an independent, not-for-profit, approvals body that inspects companies providing home security, business security and fire protection services. Recognised by Government, commerce and industry as the authoritative voice of the sector, the ECA works closely with key government and national bodies to improve industry standards and procedures. Its comprehensive, progressive and innovative services are highly respected and renowned throughout the industry. The Association is dedicated to maintaining and improving industry standards by discussion and representation, and its dedication to best practice and efficient, effective and safe working procedures ensures members deliver the very best service across a broad spectrum of commissions. For this reason membership is open only to those who meet stringent quality and customer care standards which are regularly verified by the ECA’s assessment processes in a similar way to NSI above but, this time, with more of a focus on electrical safety standards rather than security. The ECA’s assessment covers all areas of the business’s technical activity, including: design procedures, installation processes, documentation and staffing. You can find out more about NSI here and more about ECA here. |
