Fire and Smoke Alarms, Ventilation Systems
Davenheath-OTS offers a full testing service for fire and smoke alarms, and
smoke ventilation systems in residential and commercial developments, including
a 24-hour emergency repair service.
Fire alarm systems in broad terms fall into two groups – Conventional Systems
and Analogue Addressable Systems.
- Conventional fire alarm systems have been around for
many years and the technology is well proven. These are often used for
smaller applications or where budget constraints exist.
- Analogue addressable fire alarm systems differ from
Conventional systems and add more flexibility, intelligence, speed of
identification and control. These systems are frequently used for commercial
and large residential premises.
Alternative radio based Wire-Free systems provide a number of features making
them suitable for many applications. These can provide numerous benefits
including:
- Sensors can be installed quickly without causing
damage to internal finishes
- Disruption caused by installation works are kept to a
minimum
- Fire rated cables are avoided, reducing costs
- Systems can be removed or upgraded easily giving more
flexibility for building owners and users
Wire-Free solutions are suitable for most buildings and provide an attractive
alternative to buildings where traditional wired systems are difficult or
expensive to install.
Davenheath-OTS provide Conventional, Analogue Addressable and Wire-Free fire
systems according to clients' budgets and building needs. Following installation
our systems are commissioned and test certificates together with installation
drawings/manuals are provided as required.
 Fire
and Smoke Alarms
Davenheath-OTS carries out comprehensive fire and smoke alarm tests in
accordance with the recommendations of BS 5839 part 1 - the British Standard
covering all aspects of the design, installation and maintenance of fire alarm
systems. This has recently been revised and includes changes that may affect how
Clients approach maintenance planning.
We work with our clients to create and carry out regular maintenance
programmes - typically at six monthly intervals – but scheduled to match their
operational needs and type of building. Following inspections, Davenheath
test record sheets detail the results and any shortcomings; we can also provide
quotations for any necessary remedial work and carry these out promptly and
efficiently as required.
Our 24-hour emergency repair service gives our Clients added peace of mind
should their systems fail, with
the
reassurance of a prompt and professional repair and restore to service.
Smoke Ventilation Systems
Davenheath-OTS carries out regular testing, maintenance and any necessary
repairs to a range of leading natural smoke ventilation systems, designed to
activate on detection of smoke and help disperse and remove harmful gases from
buildings, particularly in escape corridors and escape stairs.
